Wiebke Drenckhan is a German physicist working for the CNRS in the Institut Charles Sadron in Strasbourg. She studied and worked in Germany, New Zealand and Ireland, before settling in France. Her research aims to unravel the secrets of bubbles and drops and to use their assemblies to create porous materials of intriguing properties. In parallel to her scientific career, Wiebke has always been working at the interface with the arts. She worked for a while in theatre, loves photography and has illustrated books and articles for many years. She is convinced by the mutual benefit of bringing designers and artists into scientific laboratories and co-created the Irish organisation SEED to foster the interactions between artists and scientists.
